Will Scharen, Owner

Will Scharen, owner of Bellwood Violin
A classically trained trombonist, Will never imagined owning and running a violin shop until recently. He holds degrees in trombone performance from New England Conservatory the Universities of Montana and Colorado. After a couple decades of playing in regional orchestras and teaching a private studio, Will found himself in Ashland, Oregon, to attend a course in bicycle frame building at United Bicycle Institute.
A few years after launching a business making and selling custom bicycles, Will realized that this was not a viable career path. An opportunity to apprentice and work at Bellwood arose and he started learning the trade – both behind the workbench and the computer screen.
By the time founder Stephen Bacon was ready to retire, Will was in the right position to buy the business and keep the momentum going. While it may be impossible to fill Stephen’s shoes, Will is grateful for the opportunity to continue Bellwood’s tradition of service to the region’s musical community. You can still hear Will play trombone in the Rogue Valley Symphony, Ashland City Band, and other groups in the valley.
