Bellwood Violin is located in Ashland, Oregon, a small town rich in culture and surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains.

With the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Southern Oregon University, and six orchestras, as well as the neighboring Britt Festival, the need for a local luthier shop committed to classical music instruments was highly apparent when the shop began in 1985. Because of the abundance and variety of tone woods and hardwoods in the area, woodworkers and instrument makers have always been part of the community.

The shop provides many essential services to our community. We have a historic instrument department, which oversees the Schuman Collection of Musical Instruments. We provide in-house as well as contract out repair among the gifted artisans and technicians of our valley. Our schools program supports affordable repair for the schools. We also meet the professional needs of the university and festivals. We serve as a clearinghouse for instrument makers from the local community as well as maintain a stock of fine instruments. We provide an educational outlet by offering in-house workshops and classes, lecturing, and providing apprenticeships and internships. We feel it is our duty to serve the community, networking local students, teachers and professional musicians. We offer insurance appraisals, string instrument rentals and consignment services.

As we are a small community in comparison to our nearest cities of Portland and San Francisco, people are often surprised at what we have to offer in terms of inventory, services, and prices.
